Dating photo checklist: choose a varied set

Choose photos that add different information about you. Keep a clear introduction, then vary the framing, expression, clothing and setting. A different background alone does not make a different photo.

Give each photo a different job

Introduce your face. Choose a current solo portrait. Use the first-photo checklist to compare candidates.
Show a wider view. Add a different crop or posture. Keep your proportions and appearance representative.
Show something you enjoy. Use a real interest that you would happily discuss. Ordinary interests are enough.
Add a different expression. A comfortable smile or a quieter expression can add variety without a new location.
Show another side of your style. Choose clothes you would actually wear. A formal outfit is optional.
Keep the last place useful. Add another photo only if it says something new. Follow your app’s photo requirements.

Spot repetition before uploading

Look at the whole set together, rather than opening each photo separately.

The same waist-up crop, crossed arms and jacket appear in every photo. Only the background changes.

A more varied set

A clear portrait, a wider seated photo and a real activity show different details about the same person.

Keep the stronger of two photos that do the same job.
Check for repeated poses, crops and facial expressions.
Keep your age, body proportions and facial features consistent.
Remove any photo you would need to explain away on a date.

Use real interests, not invented evidence

Bumble’s photo guidance recommends recent photos and showing interests. It also asks people to obtain consent before including friends. A useful photo gives someone a truthful way to start a conversation.

A generated picture does not prove you visited a place or took part in an activity. Do not use it to imply possessions, friends or experiences you do not have. Read the platform rules for AI photos before posting.
